Exam kids with eye strain, headaches?

April 2009

It's exam time. Many 14 to 18 year old kids are putting in long hours revising and the result can be unpleasant eye strain and painful headaches. Eye tests are free and the NHS provides vouchers for free spectacles which can be used for Montgomery's good looking Value Range*. So buying glasses shouldn't break your budget.

Brian Montgomery says: "Some children's eyes aren't used to studying for long hours, and many kids put in from one to five extra hours of work after school. Their eyes are being asked to do more than an adult's in a full time job."

Margaret Goldberg, joint owner of Montgomery's, offers some advice: "Kids should take a 5 minute break every hour, go for a walk or stare at into the distance. If your kids are having any problems with their eyes, you should book a free check up right away."

Montgomery's range of Kodak Kidz spectacles provides many advanced Kodak lenses for free. You can choose from specially designed Kids' glasses in clear plastic, coloured tint and even sunglasses.

Check out our FREE kids' frames and designer frames! We have a massive choice of frames. Montgomery's is well known for its friendly service and professional eye care, but its excellent value is a bit of a secret. Other generous offers* include: 2 frames for 1, 30% off for students and over 60's, interest free credit, and designer frames like Bench, Hooch, Oakley, Gant, Calvin Klein and Givenchy from only £50. *(Offer details in store).

1 in 5 children could be having difficulties at school because of poor eyesight (RNIB) but your child may not realize that anything is wrong. So eye testing should start before school. Telltale signs include: frequent rubbing of the eyes; discomfort in bright light; blurred or double-vision; watery eyes; sitting too close to the TV; clumsiness; and trouble with colours.

Why not call today to book a FREE NHS eye test for your child or even for yourself?
