Montgomery's focuses National Eye Week 2007 on over 60's
December 2007
The Eyecare Trust in conjunction with East Lothian-based Montgomery Optometrists is aiming to spread awareness about the importance of maintaining healthy eyecare for the over 60's through their thirteenth annual Eye Week. The week runs from Monday 10th December and aims to highlight how one in three people aged over 60 are missing out on vital, free NHS sight checks and therefore greatly increasing their risk of avoidable sight loss.
"Every year 27.5 million people need to have regular eye tests. Only 15 million people do."

National Eye Week runs from Monday 10th December to Sunday 16th December and Margaret Goldberg and Brian Montgomery from Montgomery Optometrists who have recently tied up with Kodak Lens want to support the week locally by offering all over 60's 30% off spectacles.
Margaret Goldberg of Montgomery Optometrists says: "Eye tests are an essential part of maintaining good health. Sight threatening problems such as glaucoma or cataracts can easily be detected by a professional eye examination; an optometrist can even spot high blood pressure or diabetes.
"Ensuring you have good vision is a critical factor in maintaining independence in the later stages of life and can often be neglected. Your eyesight is your most important sense and should always be cared for professionally. Good vision allows you the freedom to live life to the full.
"As you age, it is vital to have regular eye tests as your eyes gradually lose their ability to focus on near objects and you are more susceptible to serious eye problems such as Macular Degeneration. Remember, an eye test is a health examination and it's completely free."
